"Red Chair" Awarded First Place In NAWA Summer Small Works Juried Show

My pastel,"Red Chair," has won a First Place award in the National Association of Women Artists Summer Small Works Juried Exhibition. I'm very honored to have received this recognition from this national organization. The show can be viewed on-line and will be up until July 31, 2023.
“Red Chair” was born from paying attention to a small alcove in Cabra Castle in Kingscourt, Ireland. While there are many grand decorated rooms to ogle, I hoped, through the use of color and scale, to create a mood of an easily overlooked intimate space that can also be appreciated when we take the time to really look.
The National Association of Women Artists was founded in 1889 to gain recognition for professional women fine artists in an era when that field was strongly male-oriented. It sponsors exhibitions, awards and prizes, and organizes lectures and special events.
